‘FINDING FAMILIAR COMFORT AMIDST ANXIETY’- A SENSORY WORKSHOP

Finding familiar comfort amidst anxiety was a breakout session workshop as part of the 2018 Education Week- Education Support Event, hosted by SWTAFE. It invited participants to take part in a selection of activities that can gently and easily bring an anxious mind back to the present moment. When a person’s mind snowballs into distressing thought patterns, techniques such as meditation help it to focus, but not all people are initially practiced in meditation. Instead we can use comforting, familiar sensory experiences to take the mind away from what’s worrying it just long enough to find more calmness and focus.
